GRINNELL, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings men's tennis team will compete in two matches this weekend in the state of Iowa, beginning on Saturday, February 26 with the Grinnell Pioneers, followed by a road contest against Coe on Sunday.
The Vikings enter the weekend 0-3 after a competitive stretch to begin their season. They were defeated 7-2 by Luther, a team who ended last season ranked, this past Saturday at home. The Norse took two of three doubles to begin the contest, securing wins at No. 1 and 2.

Nicolas Navarro continued their early-season success in doubles, picking up the lone win for the Vikings in the No. 3 spot by a score of 8-5. Luther grabbed five of six singles to take the match 7-2.
Grinnell enters Saturday's matchup with a 2-5 record. The Pioneers are currently enduring a five-match losing skid after beginning the season 2-0. They were defeated in their most recent matchup by Carleton 7-2, a team the Vikings will face later this season. Augie is 8-16 all-time versus Grinnell, but have won the previous two encounters, including a 5-3 win last season in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament in St. Louis.
Augie will have a quick turnaround and head to Cedar Rapids to face the Coe Kohawks on Sunday. Coe enters the weekend with a 3-2 record overall and were narrowly defeated by Kalamazoo, who the Vikings faced earlier this season, by a score of 5-4 in their most recent contest. In the Kohawks' other loss, they fell to CCIW opponent North Central, also by a score of 5-4. Augustana is 3-20 all-time against Coe and are 1-2 against the Kohawks in their last three meetings.
The Vikings will face Grinnell at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and Coe at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.
