Box Score MOLINE, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's tennis team was defeated in their home opener on Saturday, falling to the visiting Luther Norse by a score of 7-2 from inside the Quad City Tennis Club.

The Norse took two of three doubles to begin the contest, securing wins at No. 1 and 2. Justin Cassens and Nicolas Navarro continued their early-season success in doubles, picking up the lone win for the Vikings in the No. 3 spot by a score of 8-5.

Luther took five of the six singles matches to secure the match win by a score of 7-2, but three of those wins had to go to a third and final set. Arthur Hermange at No. 1, Navarro at No. 5, and Cassens at No. 6 all were able to grab a set from their opponent, but eventually fell in the tie-breaking frame. Timothee Philip earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 4 to pick up his second singles in in three dual matches this season.

Augie drops to 0-3 with the loss. The Vikings are back in action next Saturday, February 26 at Grinnell. Start time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. from Grinnell, Iowa.
