LOCKPORT, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's bowling team kept their momentum going following a successful showing at the CCIW Tournament, enjoying a record-breaking performance at the their final non-conference tournament of the season at the Lewis Flyer Classic at Strike N Spare II Bowling Alley.

Starting off the weekend on Friday, the Vikings' 25-game Baker total they posted on day one is a new school record. They continued their success in Baker into Sunday, where they knocked off the host school and nationally-ranked Lewis, who later went on to win the whole tournament. The Vikings had three clean Baker games over the whole weekend, which is their most for a tournament this season, and averaged 178.4 in those games, also a school record.

In traditional games, their five-game total from Saturday also proved to be a school record and included a win over Valparaiso, a team who typically hovers around the top 25 polls. Augie knocked down a total of 12,327 pins on the weekend, which is the highest total of any tournament this year.

Rose Klinger was named to the all-tournament team, finishing fifth individually with a 207.2 average, good for third all-time in a tournament. On Saturday, she had 50 percent strike percentage and 81 percent filled-frames mark.

Madelyn Lathrop was the only other member to compete in all games Sunday and the only to compete in every game throughout the entire weekend. Her performance is highlighted by a clean 244, her sixth clean game of the year, which is now a record for most clean games in a single season.

Other individual efforts include Delaney Walsh, who subbed in mid-day Sunday and stepped up big by closing out 76 percent of her frames, along with a clean 206 game. Sarah Stevanovic put together a solid 204 game in individual play and carried a 70 percent fill-frame rate. Kennedy Sawyer continued her striking ways with 40 percent strike rate for the weekend and had a individual high of 183. Samantha Novak got plenty of play in Baker, continuing to be one of the teams more consistent spare shooters. She was also able to put together a solid 171 game in game one of traditional play. Sophia Osborn stepped in for game two of traditional and scored a 188 to highlight her performance on the lanes for the weekend.

"It truly was a well-rounded team effort," said head coach Marty Resner. "The challenge now is to carry that momentum through a few weeks off and into the final regular season CCIW event. The top of the CCIW is tough and we need to continue to perform at this high level to keep out post season dreams alive."

The Vikings are back in action for the second CCIW regular season tournament on March 5-6 from Bowlero Bowl in Naperville, Ill.
