ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augustana women's basketball (11-12, 5-9) is set for their their final road contest of the regular season. The Vikings will take a trip north for a matchup with the Firebirds of Carthage College.
Carthage enters the weekend with a 10-12 overall record and 5-8 record in conference play. The Firebirds are currently on a two-game losing streak and have lost five of their last six games. Their two most recent losses came at Illinois Wesleyan in league action and against 11
th-ranked Wisconsin Lutheran in non-conference play. The Firebirds' last win came on Feb. 2 in a 58-51 victory at Wheaton.
Carthage's attack is led by Lauren Knight with an average of 10.8 points per game. Knight is the only double-digit scorer for the Firebirds. Knight has also been incredibly reliable from the free throw stripe with a free throw percentage of over 83%.
Bridget Barrett leads Carthage on the glass with 121 total rebounds and an average of nearly six boards per game. Knight also leads the Firebirds in assists with 58 total and a 2.8 per game average.
The Vikings and Firebirds met once previously this season. Carthage won the first matchup on Dec. 11 in Rock Island by a 62-49 margin.
