The Vikings will face Cornerstone and Kalamazoo this weekend

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Augustana Vikings men's tennis team officially kicks off their spring season this upcoming weekend, beginning with a matchup on Friday, February 11 against Cornerstone, followed by a Saturday contest at Kalamazoo.

Augie squared off in two individual tournaments in the fall and will begin their season with just their second-ever matchup with the Cornerstone Golden Eagles. The Vikings fell to the Eagles in the only other meeting in series history. Due to this being a home match for Cornerstone, NAIA rules will apply and doubles competitions will count as just one point towards the team score. Whichever teams wins two or more in doubles play will be granted the point in the match. The Golden Eagles sit at 2-3 on the season and own a win over NCAA DIII school Calvin back in September.

The match vs. Cornerstone will be live streamed here. Start time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. CST.

On Saturday, Augustana will face the Kalamazoo Hornets. This will be the first match of the season for Kalamazoo, who finished 10-1 last year. Their only lost came in the third round of the NCAA Tournament to the team that also knocked Augie out, Washington University.

This will be the third-ever meeting between the Vikings and Hornets, with Kalamazoo winning each of the previous matchups by a score of 8-1. All encounters have come in Kalamazoo, with the most recent during the 2017-18 season.

Start time is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. CST.
