WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Augustana women's basketball team hits the road on Wednesday, December 6, to face the No. 14 UW-Whitewater Warhawks at Kachel Gymnasium.
The Vikings enter the contest with a 6-2 record, recently falling 69-54 to the Millikin Big Blue at home. Augie traded lead changes multiple times in the first half, distributing the ball efficiently and assisting on each of their made shots in the opening period. Millikin saw an efficient third period from deep while also holding the Vikings to single-digit points. The Vikings briefly cut the lead to as little as eight points early in the fourth frame, but back-to-back Millikin three-pointers stretched the lead out of the Viking's reach.
Augie was led in scoring by Macy Beinborn and Matayia Tellis, each putting together 11-point efforts. Presley Case put together another all-around effort for the Vikings, contributing nine boards, four assists, and four steals.
The Warhawks enter the contest boasting a 6-2 record. Whitewater is a perfect 3-0 on the road but is working through a home skid, dropping their previous two matchups at Kachel Gymnasium. In their most recent contest, the Warhawks had their lead snatched with just 18 seconds remaining, falling to UW-River Falls by a 67-64 final. Aleah Grundahl led the Warhawks with 21 points in the losing effort.
