ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana women's basketball team returns home after a brief holiday break to face the UW-Platteville Pioneers on Wednesday, December 28.

The Vikings enter the contest with a 7-4 record, dropping their most recent matchup 68-56 to the Carthage Firebirds on the road. The Vikings lagged early in the contest, entering the locker room down 24 points at the halfway point due to hot shooting from the home team. Augie roared back with a 22-point third period to spark a second-half comeback attempt but came up short, dropping the conference battle. Corey Whitlock put together a career performance in the loss, notching 21 points to go along with 11 boards. Gabriela Loiz tacked on an additional 14 points as the only other Vikings in double figures.

The Pioneers enter the non-conference matchup sporting a 6-5 record. Platteville averages 61.5 points per game and is coming off back-to-back narrow victories over Washington-St. Louis and Loras. Sarah Mueller and Brynlee Nelson have led the way offensively this season, averaging double-digit point totals. Ella Mackiewicz plays an all-around role for the Pioneers as the freshman guard leads the team in steals, blocks, and rebounds.

UW-Platteville leads Augie 11-7 in the all-time series. The most recent matchup between the two programs came on December 14, 2021, a contest the Vikings dropped on the road by a 63-44 score.

Start time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. from inside the Roy J. Carver Center. The stream link for Wednesday's matchup can be found here.
