12/2/2022 12:30:00 PM

ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana women's basketball team will remain at the Carver Center on Saturday, December 3 to face the Millikin Big Blue, closing out a six-game home stand.

The Vikings enter the contest with a 6-1 record, recently earning a dramatic 65-63 conference victory over the Wheaton Thunder in overtime. The Vikings were propelled by clutch shooting late in the fourth frame, as two-point makes from Gabriela Loiz and Corey Whitlock fell to force overtime. The Vikings never trailed in the extra period after a Whitlock two-point jumper went through on the opening possession. The comeback victory marked the Vikings' first conference win this season and their best start since the 2016-17 season.

Millikin comes into Saturday night's matchup sporting a 4-3 season record while also boasting a perfect 1-0 record in conference play. In their most recent matchup, the Big Blue toppled CCIW foe North Park, by a 59-39 score on the road. The win showed Millikin's defensive capabilities, holding the Vikings to 29 percent shooting on their home floor. Millikin had three scorers eclipse double-digit point totals and were led by Sophie Darden's double-double effort.

The Vikings trail Millikin 52-33 in the all-time series. The most recent matchup between the two programs came on January 22, 2022, where a 78-69 score in favor of the Big Blue bested the Vikings on their home floor. Macy Beinborn dropped 24 points in the loss.

Start time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. from the Roy J. Carver Center. The stream link for Saturday's matchup can be found here
