NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Augie men's wrestling completed a trio of contests at the Gator Boots Duals on Saturday, December 17. The Vikings swept the competition in Nashville, securing dual victories over Huntingdon, Dubuque, and Alma to move their season record to 5-4.
In the opening dual, Augustana bested the Huntingdon Hawks by a 30-14 final. The Vikings led with four straight victories before the Hawks responded with four wins of their own. Augie then slammed the door late in the dual, with
Jacob Badger (197) and
Josh Woodrey (HWT) snagging victories. Badger's pin at the 2:29 mark was his seventh this season, while Woodrey achieved his third overall victory.
The Vikings then faced a more familiar foe in Dubuque, coming away with a decisive 30-12 win over the Spartans. After exchanging blows early in the dual, Augie rattled off four straight victories following
Jack Patting's pin in the 165 class.
Vinny Querciagrossa and
Clay DeBaillie secured wins via fall and decision before Badger and Woodrey sealed the dual with decision victories.
In the final dual of the afternoon, Augie secured the three-match sweep by besting Alma 39-6. After an opening loss in the 125 class, five straight wins fell in favor of Augustana.
Trevor Boryla led the charge, besting Dakota Quinlan by an 18-2 major decision. The Scots halted the run only briefly, securing the 174 class before the Vikings took the next three matches to conclude the dual.
Augustana had multiple wrestlers not drop a match on Saturday,
