KENOSHA, Wis. – Augustana women's basketball gears up for their second consecutive CCIW matchup on Saturday, December 17, when they draw the Carthage Firebirds on the road.
The Vikings enter sporting a 7-3 record, recently triumphing over North Park in the heart of Chicago by a 66-57 score. Augie pulled away in the second half to move to a 2-1 record in CCIW play.
Gabriela Loiz led the Vikings in scoring against North Park, dropping 19 points while hauling in a team-high seven boards. Elsewhere for Augie, Macy Beinborn and Presley Case added respective 12 and 13-point efforts. The Vikings consistently took the rock from North Park, forcing eight steals in the second half alone, highlighted by Matayia Tellis's five.
Carthage enters Saturday's contest 3-5 while possessing a 1-1 record in conference play. The most recent matchup for the Firebirds resulted in a 56-41 loss to the Millikin, with Carthage giving the ball away 25 times in the contest. The Firebirds could not get shots to fall late, scoring zero points in the final two and a half minutes.
Carthage edges Augustana in the all-time series 42-31, with the most recent matchup between the two programs resulting in a 62-58 Augie victory on February 12, 2022. The two squads have split their last three season series 1-1 dating back to 2018-19.
