Box Score ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings women's tennis team saw their two-match winning streak come to an end on Friday, falling at home to the visiting North Central Cardinals by a score of 9-0.

The Cardinals grabbed two quick wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles, but had to endure a hard-fought battle at the top slot, knocking off the duo of Lily Schoeck and Hannah Colbert by a score of 8-6. North Central led 3-0 heading into singles play.

All six singles matches went in favor of the Cardinals. Colbert nearly pulled out a first set win at the No. 4 position, losing a tiebreaker on the way to a 7-6, 6-3 defeat. Schoeck and Maitreyi Shrikhande each battled tough in their opening sets as well, grabbing four games before eventually falling by identical scores of 6-4, 6-2.

"Overall, we played and competed well against a very good team," said head coach David DeSimone. "We had some opportunities early in matches that we unfortunately could not capitalize on. There is a lot to build on from today as we go into next week."

With the loss, Augie drops to 3-3 on the season. The team will be back in action on Wednesday, October 12 when they hit the road to take on North Park. Start time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. from Chicago.
