MONMOUTH, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's and women's swimming and diving teams both improved to 1-0 on Friday following wins over the Monmouth Fighting Scots in their season opener. The men were victorious by a score of 168-20, with the women securing a 167-36 win.
In their first outing of the 2022-23 season, the Viking men placed first in every event on Friday and owned the top two finishes in four different races. The men ended the night with seven events holding the top three spots as well. In relays, the 200-medley A relay team made up of
Nick Phillips (back),
Tommy Anderson (breast),
Terrin Boehmer (fly), and
Jack Brandt (Free) clocked in with a time of 1:41.42 to secure the event win, while the 200-free A team of Phillips,
Cesar Castillo,
Kacper Cebula, and
Jack Blumenfeld won with a time of 1:31.09.Â
Individual event winners vs. Monmouth:

Christian Mammoser won the 1000 with a time of 10:54.26.

Cebula finished first in the 200-free (1:47.73) and 100-breast (1:02.25).

Blumenfeld won the 50-free (22.69)Â and 100-free (49.54).

Michael Garland won the 200-IM with a final mark of 2:06.76

Brandt won the 100-fly at 56.62.Â

Phillips won the 100-back with a time of 54.75.
- Gavin McCorry took first in the 500, clocking in at 5:12.07.
On the women's side, the Vikings finished first in every event and had the top two placements in five races. The team also posted Vikings in the 1-2-3 spots in five events.
In relays, the 200-medley A relay team comprised of Hailey Glasnovich (back), Zoe Heiar (breast), Bella Valenti (fly), and Brooke Walker (Free) took first with a time of 1:57.57. Additionally, the A relay team of Glasnovich, Dominque Valentine, Izzy Sansom, and Olivia White won the 200-free relay with a time of 1:45.65.
Individual event winners vs. Monmouth:

White won the 1000 with a time of 11:24.00.

Walker won the 200-free and 100-breast, finishing with times of 2:01.65 in the 200 and 1:11.68 in the 100.

Sansom took first in the 50-free (26.43) and 100 (56.32).

Emily Martin won the 2000IM with a time of 2:19.07.

Valentine won the 100-fly at 1:02.78.
