MONMOUTH, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's and women's swimming & diving teams will open up their 2022-23 season on Friday, October 28 when they hit the road to take on the Monmouth Fighting Scots in their first dual meet of the season.

The Augie women are coming off of their first CCIW Championship in 25 years, also finishing their 2021-22 campaign with a perfect 4-0 record in dual meets. The Vikings and Fighting Scots met a season ago in Rock Island in, resulting in a 187-18 victory for the Viking women. Augustana is 13-5 all-time in dual meets against Monmouth on the women's side, currently boasting six wins in a row in the series. The Monmouth women currently sit 1-0 on the season following a 135-13 victory over Knox on October 8.

The Augustana men enter the 2022-23 season fresh off of a third-place finish at the CCIW Championships. The Vikings went 2-2 in dual meets a season ago, also defeating Monmouth in their season opener by a score of 179-24. Augie is 38-11 all-time in dual meets against the Scots on the men's side, winners of the last eight meetings dating back to 2013. Monmouth sports a 1-0 record so far this season, defeating Knox 105-13 on October 8.

On Saturday, the Vikings will also compete in the IWU Invite in Bloomington, Ill. hosted by Illinois Wesleyan. This will be the first invitational at Illinois Wesleyan that the Vikings have participated in since the 2019-20 season. The Augie men placed second at that event, with the women coming in third.
