DAVENPORT, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings men's and women's indoor track & field teams completed their third trip to St. Ambrose on Friday, competing in the Bumble Rumble meet.
Carson Eipers highlighted the men's performances, setting a school record in the weight throw with a toss of 18.42m to win the event. The throw breaks the previous Augustana record of 18.38m set by Brian Benning in 2012. Eipers now holds two of the top ten throws in Augie history.Â
Also in field events,
Jack Currie took home fifth in the shot put with a heave of 14.51m, while
Dakota Straight (4th) and
Reid McNeil (2nd) earned top five honors in the pole vault after clearing 4.33 and 4.48m, respectively.
In the running events,
Michael Gille won the one-mile race by over a second, crossing the finish line with a time of 4:25.32.
Seth Sottos took second in the 60m dash with a time of 7:00s even, placing him fourth all-time in the event in Augie history. Other notable performances include a sixth-place finish by Ian Roherty in the 200m, eighth in the 400m by
Jon Cathcart, and fifth from
Alex Gazarek in the mile.
Karsten Zielinski earned third in the 3000m run, while
Judd Anderson grabbed sixth in the 60m hurdle. The Vikings 4x400 relay team of Roherty,
Sylvester Brady,
Connor McBride, and
Dean Check came in second place with a final time of 3:32.50.
The Viking men placed fourth out of 11 teams.
On the women's side,
Katrina Krebasch set a personal best in the pole vault after clearing 3.86m to win the event. With the performance, Krebasch sits at No. 1 in the NCAA currently and is second in school history. The senior also took fourth in the high jump on Friday with a mark of 1.55m. Staying in the pole vault,
Genevieve Berryman placed fourth with a clearance of 3.00m.
Heather Michalski secured fifth in the shot put with a toss of 11.61m.
The Viking women saw a pair of top five finishes in the 3000m run, with Katie Johnston coming in third at 10:59.75, followed by
Anna Boardman at 11:12.47.
Christina Dionysia-Bourteioni took second in the 1000m run along withÂ
Irais Tenorio in sixth in the 800m.
As a team, the women placed 3rd out of 12 teams present.
The Augie indoor teams will be back in action next weekend, with the men competing at UW-Whitewater on Friday, January 29 and the women, also at Whitewater, on January 30.
