ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augustana (7-8, 1-5) stays on the road for their third-straight game away from the Carver Center on Wednesday night. The Vikings will travel to Wheaton to take on the Wheaton Thunder (11-4, 3-4) in women's basketball.

Wednesday's match up will be a key game for both squads. Augustana is looking for their second win in league play as the Vikings have struggled through their conference schedule thus far. On the other side, while holding an 11-4 overall record, the Thunder are just 3-4 in CCIW action and looking for a boost into the last half of their schedule.

Wheaton enters Wednesday's game after defeating North Central in their previous contest, 67-54. Prior to the Thunder's victory of NCC, Wheaton did drop two-consecutive CCIW games to North Park and Millikin.

The Wheaton offense is led by the CCIW's second-leading scorer, Annie Tate, who averages an impressive 18.8 points per game. The Thunder also have another double-digit scorer in Hannah Swider who scores 12.1 ppg. Two Thunder players average nearly 10 rebounds per game as Tate leads the effort on the glass with 9.5 rpg and Ellie Cassel averages 9.1 rpg. Additionally, sophomore guard Lily Schwen is the top distributor for Wheaton with 3.2 assists per game.

Historically, Wheaton has dominated the all-time series with Augustana. The Thunder lead the series 52-23. The two teams have split the last two match ups with Wheaton winning in the 2020-21 season and Augustana coming out on top in the 2019-20 campaign.
