Vikings continue road stretch with Monday match-up at North Central

Augie women looking for third-straight win over the Cardinals

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augustana women's basketball (7-7, 1-4) faces another road challenge this week when the Vikings travel to Naperville to take on the North Central Cardinals on Monday, Jan. 17.
 
North Central enters the week with a 4-9 overall record and a 1-3 record in CCIW competition. The Cardinals are currently on a five-game losing streak including three conference contests and a 67-54 loss at Wheaton in their most recent game. North Central's last win came over Carthage in early December.
 
The Cardinals have one player averaging double-digit points. Allisson Pearson leads the NCC offense with 11.8 points per game. Mitrese Smith and IxChel Leeuwenburgh are just under the double-digit mark with 9.5 ppg and 9.2 ppg, respectively.
 
Leeuwenburgh leads North Central's rebounding effort by a wide margin with an average of 8.4 rebounds per contest. Elsewhere, Pearson also leads the Cardinals with 3.7 assists per game.
 
Historically, Augustana leads the all-time series with North Central, 43-37. The Vikings have won both of the last two match ups with NCC by a six-point difference. North Central's last win over Augie came in Naperville in the 2019-20 season.
 
Due to the updated North Central event attendance policy, only pre-approved home spectators are allowed in Gregory Arena.
