BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Augustana women's basketball (7-7, 1-4) stumbled this afternoon in an 81-48 loss at Illinois Wesleyan. The Titans (9-6, 6-0) remained undefeated in CCIW play with the victory.
Illinois Wesleyan outscored the Vikings in all four periods and also held Augustana to less than 20 points in each quarter. The Viking offense struggled out of the gate with just six points in the first ten minutes. Augie's scoring woes decreased as the game progressed but the Vikings could not keep up with IWU's prolific attack.
Two Augustana women posted double-digit scoring days led by
Lauren Hall's 11 points and
Gabriela Loiz with 10. Hall also led the Vikings on the glass with 11 rebounds.
Hannah Simmer, who returned in this game after missing the last two, snagged seven rebounds.
Illinois Wesleyan was led by Brooke Lansford with 18 points, Kate Palmer with 16, and Lauren Huber with 12. Huber was also second-best on the boards for the Titans with eight rebounds, just behind Kaia Bowen with nine.
The Viking women return to action for their fourth game in eight days, and second-straight contest away from home, on Monday, Jan. 17 when Augustana travels to face the North Central Cardinals.
