ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augie women's basketball (6-6, 0-3) will play their second game in three days tomorrow night. The Vikings are set to host the Elmhurst Bluejays on Wednesday evening.
Augustana enters the mid-week matchup after dropping their last contest to the North Park Vikings. The previous defeat was the third home loss of the year for the Viking women. Augie has a chance to even their home record against Elmhurst.
The Bluejays enter the day with a 2-11 overall record and winless 0-5 mark in CCIW competition. Elmhurst also dropped their last game to Illinois Wesleyan by a score of 85-59 at home. Prior to their last contest, Elmhurst had two game postponed. The Bluejays earned their two wins against non-conference opponents Dominican and Coe.
Elmhurst is led by Taylor Harazin with 10.8 points per game. Katie Matrise follows her on the scoring leaderboard at 9.6 ppg. Matrise also leads Elmhurst from three-point territory with a 36.4% shooting rate. Harazin is the most prolific rebounder on the Bluejays' roster by a significant margin. The senior center averages nearly seven boards per game. A trio of guards lead the Elmhurst offense in assists led by Cate Boling with 2.6 apg, Marissa Urso with 2.4 apg, and Marissa Mussatto with an even 2.0 apg.
Augustana holds a 20-game advantage in the all-time series with Elmhurst. The Vikings lead the rivalry 47-27. The Augie women are currently on a nine-game winning streak over the Bluejays and won the most recent game 66-56 last season. Elmhurst's last win came in the 2015-16 season when the Bluejays defeated Augustana 69-48 in Elmhurst.
