DECATUR, Ill. – The Augustana women's golf team traveled to Decatur this weekend for the two-day Millikin Dechert Classic at Red Tail Run Golf Club. The Vikings had a solid couple of rounds and finished the team race in fourth place.

After the first day, Augustana was in a three-way tie for third place with the University of Dubuque and Rose-Hulman at +34.

Rylie Schurter was also tied in third position with Emma Thorman of Illinois Wesleyan at +4. Schurter was the only Viking in the top 10 after the first round. Elena Kuczkowski was T11 at +8 and Avery Frick was T16 at +9.

The Vikings saw a bit more consistent success during the second round, both as a team and individually.

The three-way stalemate in the team race disappeared and Augie settled in to fourth place at the end of the weekend with a score of +80. Illinois Wesleyan captured the team title at +45, over 20 shots lower than the runner-up squad from Dubuque.

IWU was also represented well on the individual leaderboard with the top two finishers. Lexi Onsrud won the solo crown with a total score of +3 while Emma Thorman finished at +6.

Schurter and Frick tied for ninth to lead the Vikings in the event. Frick's Saturday round of 80, one shot better than her previous trip, propelled her into the top 10. Jennifer Larsson recorded a pair of 83's to shoot +22, good enough for T15. Paige Breslin rounded out the Vikings' representatives in the final top 20 with a T19 finish after a two-day score of +23.

The Vikings next event is their biggest of the fall as they travel to the CCIW Championships from Thursday, Sept. 30 to Saturday, Oct. 2.
