OAK BROOK, Ill. – The Augie men's golf team competed at the Elmhurst Fall Invitational tonight hosted by Elmhurst College at Oak Brook Golf Club.
The Vikings produced their best team finish of the season with a third place posting in the 12-team field. Augustana's team score was +23.
The hosts from Elmhurst finished alone in sixth place. The two team that finished in front of Augustana were Carthage at +22, and the event champion Wheaton at +7.
Wheaton was also well-represented on the individual leaderboard with the top two place winners. The lowest Thunder golfers, David Morton and Jonah Swartz, were the only players to finish under par at -5 and -3, respectively.
Hunter Love was Augie's lowest finisher at +2, which was good enough for a T4 finish.
Adam Soczka and
Tyler Langel were the only other Viking representatives in the top 25. Soczka shot +5 to finish T12 and Langel ended the day at +6 to finish T14.
Augustana men's golf will be back on the course for a two-day event from Monday, Oct. 4 to Tuesday, Oct. 5. The Vikings will compete in the Central College Invitational at Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City.
