NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's golf team has been picked to finish third in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) this season, as determined by the results of the conference's annual coaches' poll announced Wednesday.
The poll predicted how each team would finish at next week's
CCIW Women's Golf Championship held September 30 to October 2 at Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Illinois. Augustana placed third with 34 points and one first place vote following a third place finish at the CCIW Championship in the spring.
Voting is done by the CCIW's head women's golf coaches. Each coach votes for the seven other schools in the conference in order of predicted finish. Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (seven points for first, six for second, etc.). Coaches do not vote for their own teams.
The winner of next week's championship will be designated as this year's conference champion and will earn the CCIW's automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship, held May 10-13, 2022 at Woodlands Country Club in Houston.
