ERIE, Pa. - The Augustana Vikings men's water polo team will begin their inaugural varsity season this weekend at the PSB Invitational hosted by Penn State-Behrend. The trip for Augie will be the first of two consecutive road trips to the east coast to begin the season.
The Vikings will play three matches over the course of the weekend, beginning with two on Saturday, September 11th. The team will face off with the host school Behrend at 8:00 a.m. EST. The Lions of PSU-Behrend had an abbreviated 2020 season due to COVID-19 that saw just three contests played. In 2019, they finished with an overall record of 7-14. The Lions currently sit at 0-1 on the young season following a 19-8 road loss earlier this month to Washington & Jefferson.
Augustana will face off with the Presidents of Washington & Jefferson later in the day on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. CST. The Presidents went winless in 2020 in seven games played and were 5-21 in their last full season back in 2019. W&J currently sits at 2-1 on the season.
On Sunday, the Vikings will again have one of their first games of the day when they take on the Austin Roos at 8:00 a.m. CST. Austin sits at 1-4 so far in 2021, with their lone win coming over Connecticut College on September 4th.
