ST. LOUIS, Mo.  – Augustana's 2020-21 season came to an end Saturday, as the Vikings fell 5-0 to top-ranked Washington University in the second round of NCAA Tournament play. Coach Jon Miedema's CCIW champions finish the year with a record of 13-7, while the Bears move on with a 12-1 mark.
 
Ethan Hillis and Gaurav Singh logged Washington's first win, 8-1 over juniors Leonardo Panosso (La Sale Caxias, Caxsias do Sul, Brazil) and Justin Cassens (Emerald Ridge HS, Puyallup, Wash.) at third doubles. At number one, seniors Caio de Rezende (Colegio Itoca, Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Alvaro Leal (Maristas Valencia, Valencia, Spain) fell 8-2 to Scott Altmeyer and Abhi Ramireddy and at number two, Daniel Li and Benjamin van der Sman defeated senior Peter Alex (Hinsdale South HS, Darien, Ill.) and junior Kyle Boudreau (Antioch HS, Antioch, Ill.) by the same score.
 
The Bears clinched things with wins at fifth and second singles.
 
Freshman Eliot St. Paul (Ecole Diagonal, Paris, France) dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision to Ramireddy at number five. At number two, it was Altmeyer scoring a 6-0, 6-2 win over Leal.
