Morgan Bullen (Colorado Academy, Lakewood, Colo.) and
Kalli Majewski (Mundelein HS, Mundelein, Ill.) gave the Vikings an early lead with an 8-4 second doubles win over Claire Dibble and Bethany Hoogerheide.
Wheaton's Emme Lindquist and Abygale Ahn scored an 8-1 win over senior
Annie Timm (Prairie Ridge HS, Crystal Lake, Ill.) and sophomore
Lily Schoeck (Alleman Catholic HS, Rock Island, Ill.) at number one, but Augustana got a key win at number three. Freshman
Caitlyn Hanulikova (Ames HS, Ames, Iowa) and sophomore
Lauren Oda (Elk Grove HS, Elk Grove Village, Ill.) downed Lindsey Anderson and Sarah Backer 8-7 to send the Vikings to singles play with a 2-1 lead.
Timm made it 3-1 with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Lindquist at number one, but Hoogerheide bested Hanulikova 7-6, 6-3 at number four to keep the Thunder within striking distance.
Ahn's 6-1, 6-2 win over Schoeck at number two tied the dual at 3-3, but wins by Oda at number five and sophomore
Michaela Magee (Olathe East HS, Overland Park, Kan.) at number three clinched it for Miedema's crew. Oda downed Backer 6-1, 7-5 and Magee rallied to take down Dibble 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
When play was halted, Majewski led 4-1 in the third set of her sixth singles match with Caroline Park.
