9-0 win over Dubuque on Sunday, April 18.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augustana didn't have much time to get over its 6-3 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin defeat at the hands of North Central on Saturday, April 17. The Vikings were on the Lower Campus Courts at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 18 and they easily handled Dubuque 9-0 to get back on the winning track. Head coach Jon Miedema's team is now 7-5 overall after the non-conference victory over the Spartans, who fall to 2-13.

Miedema rested some of his regulars on Sunday but it didn't matter as Augustana jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after doubles and then rolled to six fairly easy singles victories.

Juniors Kyle Boudreau (Antioch HS, Antioch, Ill.) and Leonardo Panosso (La sale Caxias; Caxias Do Sul, Brazil) moved into the number one spot and defeated John Huseman and Brady McIntyre 8-4. Junior Justin Cassens (Emerald Ridge HS, Puyallup, Wash.) and freshman Eliot St. Paul (Ecole Diagonal; Paris, France) combined at number two to beat Stefan Zrnic and Zach Norman 8-0. At number three it was freshman David Russ (Pike HS, Indianapolis, Ind.) and senior Ryan Sullivan (The Gow School, Winnetka, Ill.) who got the better of Kody Hampton and Maxwell Flaten 8-1.

St. Paul took over at number one singles and he beat Zrnic 6-4; 6-4. Cassens beat Huseman at number two 6-2; 6-0 and Boudreau handled McIntyre 6-1; 6-0. Freshman Jesse Dyer (United Township HS, East Moline, Ill.) beat Norman 6-0; 6-0 at number four and Sullivan defeated Flaten 6-0; 6-0 at number five. Russ beat Hampton 6-1; 6-0 at number six.

Augustana will be in action again on Wednesday, April 21 with a home match with Wheaton beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the Lower Campus Courts.
