ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augustana moved to 5-4 on the season and 4-1 in the CCIW Tuesday with an 8-1 win over Elmhurst at the Lower Campus Courts. The Bluejays dropped to 1-4 overall and 1-3 in the conference.
 
Seniors Morgan Bullen (Colorado Academy, Lakewood, Colo.) and Kalli Majewski (Mundelein HS, Mundelein, Ill.) got the afternoon off on solid footing, with an 8-0 win over June Bering and Morgan Balancia at second doubles. At number three, sophomore Lauren Oda (Elk Grove HS, Elk Grove Village, Ill.) and freshman Caitlyn Hanulikova (Ames HS, Ames, Iowa) were 8-1 winners over Megan Engstrom and Bailey Ekstrand and Coach Jon Miedema's number one team of senior Annie Timm (Prairie Ridge HS, Crystal Lake, Ill.) and sophomore Lily Schoeck (Alleman Catholic HS, Rock Island, Ill.) took care of Julia Kostadinova and Isabella Rahman by score of 8-5.
 
The Vikings continued on their roll in singles action. Sophomore Michaela Magee (Olathe East HS, Overland Park, Kansas) won 6-1, 6-0 over Bering at number three and Schoeck defeated Bilancia 6-1, 6-2 at number two.
 
At first singles, Timm scored a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Kostadinova and junior Nicole Pacheco (Colegio Arua, Mogi das Cruzes, Brazil) posted a 6-1, 6-0 win over Val Schallmo at number six.
 
Senior Amanda Redman (Wheaton North HS, Wheaton, Ill.) won 6-3, 6-2 over Engstrom at fifth singles to make it 8-0 Augustana before Elmhurst averted the sweep with Rahman's 6-1, 7-6 win over Mia Reese (Wheaton North HS, Wheaton, Ill.) at number four.
 
The Vikings host three conference duals this weekend, beginning with a Saturday, April 17 date versus North Central at 10:00 a.m.
