KENOSHA, Wis. – Junior
Hunter Love (Alleman HS, Rock Island, Ill.) led the way for Augustana Tuesday, as Coach
Paul Del Vecchio's Vikings tied for ninth place at the Carthage Spring Invitational at Kenosha Country Club.
Love's round of 80 tied him for 14th place in the individual standings. Edgewood, which captured the team title with a collective round of 313, boasted two of three medalists in Josh Hentrich and Jake Schroeckenthaler. Loras' Dominic Leli also carded a winning 74.
The rest of Del Vecchio's outfit consisted of seniors
Jack Neenan (Benet Academy, Naperville, Ill.) and
Dylan Flock (Maroa-Forsyth HS, Forsyth, Ill.) and sophomores
Tyler Langel (West Delaware HS, Manchester, Iowa) and
Jonah Snelling (Benet Academy, Glen Ellyn, Ill.). Neenan tied for 29th in a field of 68 golfers with a round of 83. Flock carded an 84 to tie for 35th. Langel's 86 was tied for 48th and Snelling tied for 57th with a 90.
In the team standings, Edgewood finished three strokes ahead of second-place Concordia-Wisconsin (316), with Loras (318) and St. Norbert (319) close behind in third and fourth. Marian and Elmhurst both shot 325 to tie for fifth, followed by Wheaton (327) and Carroll (332) in seventh and eighth. Augustana tied for ninth place with Lake Forest. Each shot 333. MSOE (334) and Wisconsin Lutheran (348) rounded out the 12-team field.
The Vikings are back in action on Saturday and Sunday, April 17-18 at Millikin's Take Back the Night Challenge.
