CHICAGO, Ill. – Coach
Jon Miedema's Augustana women captured the program's 27th consecutive CCIW dual-meet win on Wednesday, defeating North Park 9-0 on the road. Miedema's squad improved to 4-2 on the season and 3-0 in the conference, while the hosts dropped to 0-3 overall and in the league.
Sophomore
Michaela Magee (Olathe East HS, Overland Park, Kan.) and freshman
Mia Reese (Wheaton North HS, Wheaton, Ill.) gave Augustana a 1-0 lead with an 8-4 win over Emma Trais and Acacia Doughty at third doubles.
Senior
Kalli Majewski (Mundelein HS, Mundelein, Ill.) and freshman
Caitlyn Hanulikova (Ames HS, Ames, Iowa) were 8-2 winners over Hannah Rosenbaum and Hannah Dickinson at number two and the Vikings' number one duo of senior
Annie Timm (Prairie Ridge HS, Crystal Lake, Ill.) and sophomore
Lily Schoeck (Alleman HS, Rock Island, Ill.) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-3 victory over Lisa Viuhkonen and Patrycja Miazek.
Hanulikova and Majewski each rolled to 6-0, 6-0 wins in singles. Hanulikova downed Dickinson at number four and Majewski defeated Trais at number five to clinch the team win.
Magee's 6-1, 6-0 third singles win over Rosenbaum made it 6-0 and Schoeck bested Viuhkonen love, love at number two. Reece beat Doughty 6-2, 6-2 at number six and Timm finished off the whitewash with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Miazek at number one.
Next up for Miedema's crew is a showdown with Wheaton at the Quad City Tennis Club on Saturday, April 3. The Thunder were the last program to defeat Augustana in regular season conference play on October 15, 2016.
