MOLINE, Ill. – Wisconsin-Whitewater defeated Augustana 9-0 in non-conference men's tennis action on Sunday, March 14 at the Quad City Tennis Club. The Warhawks swept the doubles matches to grab a 3-0 lead and then stayed perfect through the singles matches.

There was quite a battle at number one doubles before the Augustana team of senior Caio DeRezende
(Colegio Itoca; Sao Paulo, Brazil) and senior
Alvaro Leal (Maristas Valencia; Valencia, Spain) dropped a hard-fought 7-8 decision to Jake Macey and Alex Gray.
At number two doubles the Warhawk team of Ryan Mitchell and Noah Guillermo defeated the Viking duo of senior
Peter Alex (Hinsdale South HS, Darien, Ill.) and junior
Kyle Boudreau (Antioch HS, Antioch, Ill.) 8-4. The number three doubles match went to Whitewater's Parker Hearne and Cole Lindwall over Augustana's
Eliot St. Paul (Ecole Diagonal; Paris, France) and
Leonardo Panosso (La Sale Caxias; Caxias Do Sul, Brazil) 8-3.
Macey defeated DeRezende 6-3; 6-4 at number one singles and Gray took the measure of Leal 6-3; 6-0 at number two. Lindwall beat Alex 7-5; 6-3 at number three and Mitchell handled Panosso 6-0; 6-1 at number four. The number five singles match went to the Warhawks Brendan Pietilla by a count of 6-1; 6-2 over St. Paul. The Vikings used junior
Justin Cassens (Emerald Ridge HS, Puyallup, Wash.) at number six and he fell to Brayden Kopp 1-6; 1-6.
Augustana will be in action again on Saturday, March 20 at 12:00 p.m. in Madison, Wisconsin against Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The Vikings open College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin paly on Sunday, March 21 at 2:00 p.m. in Kenosha, Wisconsin against Carthage.
