BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – There were no team scores at the Illinois Wesleyan Triangular #2 on Saturday, February 6 in Bloomington, Illinois at the Shirk Center but head coach Jake Shaver's Augustana men's track & field team posted victories in five individual events. There were no team scores kept in the meet, which featured teams from Illinois Wesleyan and Millikin as well as Shaver's Vikings.
 
Included in the string of five victories was a one-two-three sweep in the pole vault as sophomore Seth Rohr (Rock Canyon HS, Pella, Iowa) cleared 12' 5" to win and senior Kyle Baus (Naperville Central HS, Naperville, Ill.) was second with the same height. Freshman Derek Butts (Yorkville HS, Yorkville, Ill.) placed third at 11' 11 ¾".
 
Senior Ryan Thornton (Bartonville-Limestone HS, Mapleton, Ill.) won the long jump with a leap of 22' 6 ½" and sophomore Carson Eipers (Naperville Central HS, Naperville, Ill.) grabbed the weight throw with a toss of 53' 8 ½". Junior Ian Rothery (Wheaton North HS, Wheaton, Ill.) won the 400 in :51.95 and junior Michael Gille (Machesney Park Harlem HS, Roscoe, Ill.) took the 800 in 1:59.66.
 
The Vikings were strong in the field events as senior Mason Wright (Polo HS, Woosung, Ill.) took second in the triple jump with a leap of 43' 4 ½" and sophomore Jacob Uhlmann (Geneva HS, Geneva, Ill.) was second in the shot with a toss of 42' 0 ¾". Freshman Luke Cowan (Paxton-Buckley-Loda HS, Buckley, Ill.) was fourth in the shot with a mark of 42' 0 ¾" and the weight throw yielded a third from sophomore Josh O'Brien (Sterling HS, Sterling, Ill.) and a fourth from sophomore Alex Jaramillo (Alleman Catholic HS, East Moline, Ill.). O'Brien uncorked a throw of 44' 8 ¾" while Jaramillo hit 36' 2 ¾".
 
Freshman Connor McBride (Sterling Newman Central Catholic HS, Dixon, Ill.) placed second in the 200 (:23.37) and third in the 400 (:52.72). The 4x400 relay team of McBride, Gille, Dean Check and Rothery took second in 3:30.74.
 
Sophomore Adam Schumacher (Jacksonville HS, South Jacksonville, Ill.) was third in the 800 in 2:11.21. Senior Urvaksh Avanthsa (Cary-Grove HS, Cary, Ill.) was fourth in the 60 in :08.08. Senior Karsten Zielinski (Schaumburg HS, Schaumburg, Ill.) took fourth in the mile in 4:34.21. Freshman Connor Lopez (Metamora HS, Metamora, Ill.) was fourth in the 60 hurdles with a time of :09.25. Senior Alex Binegar (East Peoria HS, East Peoria, Ill.) grabbed fifth in the 3000 (9:37.98).
 
Augustana will be in action again on February 20 in a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin event in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
