ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Augustana women's basketball team (5-2) is set to tip off conference play this weekend with a trip to Millikin on Saturday, Dec. 3. The Vikings and Big Blue will face off at 2:00 P.M. in Decatur.
Millikin enters the weekend with a 4-3 overall record before beginning CCIW competition. The Big Blue won their most recent contest by a 74-65 score over Illinois College. Their last victory snapped a three-game losing streak including a 71-55 loss to 19
th-ranked DePauw University.
One of the Vikings' two losses came in their last time on the floor at Webster University last weekend. Prior to that game, Augie won two road games against Anderson and Wittenberg to reach their current five-win mark.
Millikin is led by two double-digit scorers in Elyce Knudsen and Bailey Coffman who average 19.9 ppg and 13.9 ppg, respectively. Knudsen scores efficiently as well as in volume with a team-high 54% field goal percentage and 48% three-point shooting rate. On the glass, Jordan Hildebrand is best on the Big Blue roster with an average of 6.9 rpg. Knudsen and Abby Ratch are close behind with 6.0 rpg. Knudsen also adds a distributive element to the Big Blue attack with 3.0 assists per game, just behind Miranda Fox's 3.4 apg.
Heading into conference play, Augustana boasts three double-digit scorers.
Gabriela Loiz leads the team with 14.6 ppg followed by
Macy Beinborn with 12.9 ppg and
Lauren Hall with 11.0 ppg. Hall leads the way on the glass with 10.9 rebounds per game.
The Vikings and Big Blue have traded blows in recent years with the last 16 games being split between the two teams, 8-8. Millikin won the last matchup in February of 2021 by a 76-53 score.
