ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Augustana men's wrestling team (0-5, 0-2) suffered two similar losses this evening to two non-conference opponents. The Vikings gained and lost leads against both Simpson College and Central College to remain winless on the season.

In the first match of the night, Augustana fell to the Simpson Storm by the slimmest of margins, 20-19. Ellex Williams and Trevor Boryla vaulted Augie to a 10-0 lead after wins via forfeit and major decision.

Zach Stewart got the Storm on the board in the 141-pound bout with a win over Kameron Hanel. The Storm won three of the next four to take a 17-13 lead.

After trading wins between the 184 and 197-pound classes, the Vikings trailed 20-16 with a chance for Daniel Skold to win the dual with a tech. fall or pin. Skold did earn the victory but narrowly missed a fall and the Vikings were beaten 20-19.

The night's second dual against the Central Dutch was a bit more one-sided as the guests won seven of 10 matches. The start to the dual got off to a similar start with wins from Williams and Boryla, but Central rattled off four-consecutive victories to lead 15-8.

A.J. Geraci secured an impressive win to keep the Vikings in striking distance, but a trio of Dutch triumphs ended the night in favor of Central, 30-11.

The Vikings grapplers will be back in action this Sunday, Dec. 5 when they travel to 18th-ranked Millikin for another CCIW dual meet.
