ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Augie men's wrestling team (0-6, 0-2) will travel south for a busy weekend on the mat. The Vikings will face off against Fontbonne University in St. Louis tonight (Thursday, Dec. 16) and then head to Nashville, Tenn. to compete in the Gator Boots Duals (Saturday, Dec. 18).
The dual between Augustana and Fontbonne will feature two similar teams. Both the Vikings and Griffins are winless in dual meets this season and have identical 0-6 overall records. Fontbonne was soundly beaten by Iowa Wesleyan University in their most recent match, 44-3.

On Saturday, the Vikings will take on three teams at the Gator Boots Duals in Nashville. First, Augie will wrestle the Hawks of Huntingdon College. The Hawks are 4-2 this season. The dual between Augustana and Huntingdon will be the first-ever for both teams.
Augustana will also battle the Manchester Spartans. Manchester has not competed in any duals this season but has participated in four invitational events with average finishes in each. The Vikings and Spartans have faced off on seven previous occasions dating back to the 1991-92 season. Manchester holds a 4-3 lead in the all-time series and won the last match in 2017-18. The Vikings' last victory came in 2011-12 with a 25-16 triumph.
Finally, the Vikings will end the Gator Boots Duals with a match against Waynesburg University. The Yellow Jackets are 1-4 in duals this season and are currently on a three-match losing streak. Waynesburg's only win came over the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford, 49-6. Augustana's dual with the Yellow Jackets will also be the first-ever between the two programs.
