ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Augustana women's basketball team (5-4, 0-2) will travel north for a non-conference matchup on Tuesday night. The Vikings will visit UW-Platteville (7-3, 2-0) for a difficult test against the Pioneers.
UW-Platteville has had a great start to the year with a 7-3 overall record and 2-0 mark in WIAC competition. The Pioneers are currently on a five-game winning streak including two conference victories over UW-La Crosse and UW-River Falls, plus a win over Luther College in their most recent game. UW-Platteville's last loss came just under a month ago when they suffered a defeat at the University of Chicago.
The Pioneers are led by two scorers averaging double-figures. Maiah Domask leads the way with an impressive 18.2 points per game followed by Sarah Mueller with 11 ppg. Domask also leads the Pioneer team on the glass with 10.7 rebounds per game and as a distributor with nearly three assists per contest.
Historically, the series between Augustana and UW-Platteville has been very competitive. The Pioneers hold a 9-7 advantage over Augie, dating back to the 1975-76 season. From 1981-86, Augustana earned six of their seven wins in the series. The Vikings' last victory came in the 2005-06 season by a 60-54 margin.
