STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Augustana traveled to Stevens Point for an invitational tournament hosted by UWSP. The Pointer Open marked the second event of the season for the men's team and made history for Augie's women. The Viking women's team competed in the first-ever event as a program.

For the women, Sawyer Graham went 3-3 on the day and placed sixth in her class. Graham's first win of the day marked the first win in the history of Viking women's wrestling.

Ruby Gerhardt also made history as she was the first woman to compete in any match for Augustana wrestling. Gerhardt did not place.

On the men's side, two athletes worked their way to sixth-place finishes.

Alex Cruz advanced through the first round with a bye. Cruz then won two of his next three matches before falling in the consolation rounds. He placed sixth at 149 pounds.

Adam Ederar also placed sixth at 197 pounds. Ederar picked up wins in the first round and quarterfinals, one by decision and one by fall. He could not continue the momentum, though, and eventually lost the fifth-place match to finish in sixth position.

Elsewhere, Kameron Hanel (141), Jacob Badger (184), Angel Cruz (157), and Chase Clark (165) all went 1-2 at the Pointer Open.

The Augustana women will be back in Stevens Point for a dual match against UWSP on Friday, Nov. 19. The Viking men will also be on the road for a conference dual at Elmhurst on Thursday, Nov. 11.
