ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's and women's swimming and diving teams will compete in their second dual meet of the season on Saturday, November 5 when they host conference foe Illinois Wesleyan from inside Anne Greve Lund Natatorium.
Augie is fresh off of their season-opening win on both sides over Monmouth a few weeks back, with the men winning 179-24 and the women 187-18. The men posted a record point margin as they won 11 of 11 events and both relays.
Gavin McCorry was the top point scorer during his collegiate debut. A total of 18 members made their debut at this meet, with McCorry swimminb a winning time of 10:49.62 in the 1,000-yard freestyle and a 5:11.23 mark in the 500-yard freestyle. For the women, the Vikings won 11 of 11 events—including both relays—with freshman Brook Walker as the top point scorer of the meet. Walker swam a winning 11:05.81s 1,000-yard freestyle and a 5:29.57s 500-yard freestyle.
The Titans of Illinois Wesleyan enter Saturday's dual with an 0-2 record on the men's side following losses to Lewis and Missouri-St. Louis to begin the year. The IWU men took first of third a their home Halloween tournament last weekend. The Titans women's team posts a near identical record this season, dropping their opening duals to Lewis and Missouri-St. Louis. The team took first of four teams in their home tournament.
The Augustana men hold an all-time record of 25-6 over Illinois Wesleyan. The Vikings won the last meeting in a close contest back in January 2021, defeating the Titans 132-129 in Bloomington. On the women's side, Augie leads the all-time series 8-4, winning their last matchup in January 2021 by a score of 139-132.
