ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Augustana women's basketball team (3-1) will look to bounce back after their first loss of the season earlier in the week with two games away from home. The Vikings will square off against Anderson on Saturday, Nov. 20 in a neutral site matchup and then take on the host Tigers of Wittenberg on Sunday, Nov. 21.
Anderson is currently 0-2 this season with a pair of double-digit losses to start the season. The Ravens fell to Webster University by a lopsided 74-47 margin in their opener and suffered a 67-55 defeat at Ohio Northern in their most recent game.
Anderson has two players currently scoring in double figures. Senior forward Payton Moore leads the team with 15 ppg, followed by Lexi Dellinger at 12. Dellinger is also a menace on the glass with a team-high 10 rebounds per contest. Freshman guard Brynn Beard has been the top distributor on the team with an average of 5 assists per game.
Wittenberg, the hosts of this weekend's triangular tournament, is 1-1 this season. The Tigers defeated CCIW opponent Illinois Wesleyan 68-59 in their season debut but lost to Muskingum 76-72 in their most recent tilt.
Wittenberg was led by two different leading scorers in their first two games. Senior guard Abigail Yunker netted 18 points against IWU while senior forward Kristie Kalis poured in 21 in the second game. Forward Jade Simpson has been the top rebounder on the team with 26 total through two games and a game-high 18 boards against Muskingum.
This weekend's games will be the first-ever between Augustana and both Anderson and Wittenberg.
