ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Augustana women's basketball team (1-0) is on the road this weekend for a two-game set hosted by Coe College. The Vikings will take on Central College tonight, Friday, Nov. 12 at 5:00 P.M. then challenge the host Kohawks on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 4:00 P.M.
The Central Dutch are currently 0-1 on the season after losing 80-66 at Grinnell College. Kelsea Hurley led the Dutch with a double-double against Grinnell as she posted 23 points and 12 rebounds. Kassidi Steel added 11 points while Allison Van Gorp collected 10 boards.
Augustana leads the all-time series against the Dutch by a 7-5 margin, dating back to the 1982-83 season. The Vikings have beaten Central in the last six matches and won the most recent game by a 68-57 score in 2018.
The host Coe Kohawks are 1-0 this season after opening the schedule with a 64-60 win at Cornell College. Kaalyn Petersen also posted a double-double in the debut with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Two other student-athletes finished in double figures scoring including both Ellie Wisner and Elle Walker with 12 points each.
Since 2013, Augie holds a slim advantage over Coe with four wins in seven games. The Vikings won the most recent game in 2019 by an 84-78 score.
