ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Augustana women's volleyball team will look to right the ship this weekend with multiple opportunities on the court. The Vikings will compete at the Elmhurst Invitational in three matches.

Augie will take on Kalamazoo (4-10) and John Carroll (7-10) on Friday, Oct. 1 at 6:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M., respectively. They will conclude their weekend at noon on Saturday, Oct. 2 against UW-River Falls (8-9).

Augustana has limited history against Kalamazoo with just one previous match-up. In the 2014 season, Augie defeated the Hornets 3-1 in a neutral site game.

Kalamazoo's attack is led by Ann Lawrence with 114 kills, more than 30 more than Halley Johnson's 81. Rorie Dougherty and Molly Horton have also been key to the Hornets' offense with 140 and 111 assists, respectively. Defensively, Kalamzoo is led in digs by Lizzy Rachiele's 169 digs, with another 139 from Ashley Rill.

Augustana and John Carroll have no previous matches in recorded history. In the first-ever game between the Vikings and Blue Streaks, Augie will look to stifle a deep offense with three players at 100+ kills. Cassi Calamunci, Brooke Hjerpe, and Kailee Herbst have recorded 181, 132, and 122 respective kills. JCU also has two players with 100+ assists as Ally Bartolone has made 436 and Maddie Maziarz has made 119. John Carrol's defense has been solid as well with four players in triple-digits in digs, led by Anna Coughlin's 296. Carleen Ellerbruch and Jillian Kellick have also been stellar on the front line with a combined 67 blocks.

At just under .500, UW-River Falls will attempt to defeat Augie for the first time. Augustana has taken down the Falcons twice, most recently in 2014.

Katie Koerper (159), Kameri Meredith (123), Sami Hilley (115), and Sarah Langlois (108) have provided significant scoring for the Falcons. Langlois also leads the blocks categories with 36. On the back line, Haley Cuba has been excellent as a distributor with 442 assists while Brooke Voigt has made 295 digs.
