CCIW title in the last four years in 2018-19.

Vikings finish 18-6 overall and 8-0 in CCIW dual-meet action; ranked 15th in Central Region by ITA; win third CCIW title in four years; claim three conference titles each in singles and doubles; Caitlyn Schaffer repeats as CCIW Player of the Year and breaks school record for total wins; Schaffer and Madeline Lombardi become Augustana's winningest doubles team; Schaffer, Annie Timm and Zeana Badawi earn All-CCIW honors

Coach Jon Miedema's Augustana women turned in another tremendous season in 2018-19. The Vikings finished 18-6 overall and went 8-0 in the CCIW for the second consecutive season. They claimed conference titles at three singles and three doubles flights and captured their third CCIW championship in the last four years. Miedema earned his third women's Coach of the Year Award in the last four years as well. His outfit finished 15th in the final ITA Central Region rankings.

Individually, Caitlyn Schaffer (Kenwood Academy, Chicago, Ill.) led the way. The senior won her second straight CCIW Player of the Year Award. She repeated as league champ at first singles and teamed with classmate Madeline Lombardi (Edwardsville HS, Glen Carbon, Ill.) to repeat as first doubles champions. Schaffer finished her career with six CCIW titles, having won at third singles in 2016 and paired with Lombardi to claim the third doubles crown in 2015.

Schaffer finished the season 19-11 in singles and 23-9 in doubles, giving her 198 total victories in her career, breaking the previous school record of 196 set by Lauren Goggin from 2013-17. She finished second all-time in doubles wins as a Viking with 101 and third in singles victories with 97.

Lombardi and Schaffer, the 14th-ranked doubles team in the Central Region, wrapped up their careers as the winningest combo in program history with 66 victories together. With 98 doubles wins, Lombardi ranks third all-time at Augustana and her 138 total victories are tied with Kristen Pence (2001-05), Moira Kinnally (1992-96) and junior teammate Zeana Badawi (Hinsdale Central HS, Burr Ridge, Ill.) for seventh-most in program history. Lombardi finished the year with records of 14-13 at number four singles and 23-9 at first doubles.

Annie Timm (Prairie Ridge HS, Crystal Lake, Ill.) won her second consecutive CCIW second singles championship, teamed with Badawi to take the doubles title at number two and was named CCIW Championship MVP. The sophomore posted a 22-9 singles mark and went 24-5 with Badawi in doubles. Her .770 (47-14) career singles winning percentage is eighth-best in program history and she'll enter her junior season with 88 total career wins.

Badawi, who joined Timm as a second team All-CCIW selection, will go into her senior season 11th in school history with 69 doubles wins and tied for 11th with 69 singles victories. She led the team in singles wins this year, going 24-8 at number three, and went 24-5 with Timm in doubles.

Other CCIW champs for Miedema in 2018-19 included the sophomore duo of Morgan Bullen (Colorado Academy, Lakewood, Colo.) and Leraaen Abbott (Belvidere North HS, Belvidere, Ill.), who won at third doubles, and sophomore Maleeha Chowdhury (Rock Canyon HS, Highlands Ranch, Colo.), who won the title at number five singles.

Chowdhury posted a 13-1 singles record in the fall, while Bullen stepped into the fifth singles spot in the spring and finished the year 8-10. At sixth singles, sophomore Kalli Majewski (Mundelein HS, Mundelein, Ill.) went 10-5 in the fall and Abbott finished 4-7 after taking over during the spring portion of the season. Bullen and Abbott each finished with a doubles mark of 21-9 this year, including a 15-6 ledger together.
