GENEVA, Ohio – Augustana seniors Cody Wheeler (United Township HS, East Moline, Ill.) and Brandon Wilkerson (Tri-Point HS, Stelle, Ill.) both turned in All-America performances for the second year in a row Saturday at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the SPIRE Institute. Wheeler placed fifth in the hammer and Wilkerson seventh in the 3000-meter steeplechase, as the Vikings tied for 42nd in the final team standings with six points.

Wheeler, second in the nation a year ago, uncorked a heave of 198' 5" on his final throw Saturday to place fifth and earn Coach Jake Shaver's squad four team points. Baldwin Wallace's Zak Dysert, the only thrower with a better mark than Wheeler coming into the competition, won the national championship with a toss of 203' 5".

Wilkerson finished in 9:12.72 to place seventh in the nation and garner the Vikings two team points. His time was nearly three seconds faster than his 2018 finals clocking, which earned him a sixth-place finish. Benjamin Schott of Messiah ran an 8:58.89 to claim the national title by nearly five seconds.

Wisconsin-Eau Claire ran away with the team title, compiling 68 points to 38 for second-place MIT.
