ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augustana rolled to an 8-0 victory over Elmhurst in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin men's tennis action on Thursday, April 25 at the Lower Campus Courts. The Vikings moved to 21-5 overall and 7-0 in CCIW action.

Elmhurst was playing with only five players so the number three doubles spot was left open and the Vikings team of freshmen Justin Cassens (Emerald Ridge HS, Puyallup, Wash.) and Leonardo Panosso (Lasale Caxias; Caxias Do Sul, Brazil) picked up a win by default. The number two team of senior Jack Morkin (University HS, Bloomington, Ill.) and junior Scott Daluga (Libertyville HS, Libertyville, Ill.) defeated Grant O'Connell and Chris Wallace 8-1.

Head coach Jon Miedema trotted out his normal number one doubles team and sophomores Sriram Sugumaran (Pleasant Valley HS, Bettendorf, Iowa) and Peter Alex (Hinsdale South HS, Darien, Ill.) defeated David Demoll and Shawn Sabaricos 8-1.

Armed with a 3-0 lead Augustana did not let off in singles. Junior Ryan Sullivan (The Gow School, Winnetka, Ill.) picked up a win by default at number six. Cassens beat Tavious Imperial 6-0; 6-0 at number five and fellow freshman Kyle Boudreau (Antioch HS, Antioch, Ill.) defeated Wallace 6-3; 6-3 at number four.

Senior Alex Riddle (York HS, Elmhurst, Ill.) beat O'Connell 6-4; 2-6; 10-8 in a hard-fought battle at number three and sophomore Rodrigo Medeiros (Reino; Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil) beat Sabaricos 6-2; 7-5 at number two. The number one singles match was left unfinished because of rain and sophomore Caio DeRezende (Colegio Itoca; Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Demoll were tied with a win apiece.

The Vikings will play Luther on Sunday, April 28 in Decorah, Iowa to close out the regular season.
