Sophomore Alvaro Leal won five games in singles and teamed
with classmate Leonardo Panosso to win six in doubles, but
Augustana ultimately fell 9-0 to the nation's top-ranked team,
the University of Chicago, Wednesday in Flossmoor, Illinois.

Alvaro Leal (Maristas Valencia, Valencia, Spain) and freshman
Leonardo Panosso (La Sal Caxias, Caxias do Sul, Brazil) put up the best fight, falling 8-6 to Max Liu and Jeremy Yuan.
Chicago's Ninan Kumar and Erik Kerrigan were 8-2 winners over sophomores
Peter Alex (Hinsdale South HS, Darien, Ill.) and
Sriram Sugumaran (Pleasant Valley HS, Bettendorf, Iowa) at first doubles, while sophomores
Caio de Rezende (Colegio Itoca, Sao Paulo, Brazil) and
Rodrigo Medeiros (Colegio Reino, Pelotas Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil) fell 8-1 to Charlie Pei and Tyler Raclin at number three.
Leal won five games at second singles, eventually dropping a 6-4, 6-1 decision to Yuan. Alex fell 6-2, 6-1 to Alex Guzhva at number four,
Guilherme Calixto (Calegria, Presidente Prudente, Sao Paulo, Brazil) lost 6-1, 6-2 to Alejandro Rodriguez at number five and Shramay Dhawan bested Panosso 6-0, 6-3 at number six.
De Rezende and Sugumaran both dropped 6-1, 6-0 decisions. Kerrigan defeated de Rezende at first singles and Pei downed Sugumaran at number three.
On Saturday, April 13, Miedema's crew jumps back into CCIW play, facing Millikin and Illinois Wesleyan on the road at 10:45 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., respectively.
