CHICAGO, Ill. – Augustana went on the road Friday night to tangle with the University of Chicago at the Gerald Ratner Athletics Center. The 24th-ranked Maroons bested the Vikings by a score of 39-18, with just one of the eight contested bouts going the full seven minutes.
 
The teams swapped forfeits at 125 and 133 pounds, with senior Dale Charlier (Cary-Grove HS, Cary, Ill.) benefitting for Augustana at 133. Charlier moved to 14-10 on the season.
 
The Vikings trailed just 18-12 after senior Freddy Terranova (Jackson Memorial HS, Jackson, N.J.) recorded a victory by fall over Mason Williams at 157. Terranova moved up from his usual 149 and pinned Williams in 4:16 to improve to 14-9 this year.
 
Augustana's other win came from junior Adarios Jones (Moline HS, Moline, Ill.). The nation's third-ranked 285-pounder remained unbeaten in 17 matches this season, taking 2:16 to pin Chicago's Patrick Mulkerin.
 
Next up for Coach Tony Willaert's Vikings are the CCIW Championships. The conference tournament will be held at Faganel Hall in Elmhurst, Illinois on Thursday, February 7, with the first bouts getting underway at 1:00 p.m.
