Vikings win every event in dual meet wins over Loras and Knox in men's swimming

Junior Brett Keefe was the lone individual double winner for the Vikings on Saturday in dual
meet victories over Loras and Knox. He won the 200 individual medley and the 200
breaststroke.

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Augustana men left little doubt about their dominance in a pair of impressive dual meet victories over Loras and Knox on Saturday, November 9 in Dubuque, Iowa. The Vikings of head coach Dan Lloyd won every event as they defeated Loras 161-39 and Knox 173-15 to run their record to 4-1 on the season.
 
Junior Brett Keefe (Rockford Christian HS, Machesney Park, Ill.) was the lone individual double winner for Augustana as he won the 200 individual medley in 2:05.63 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:17.57. For good measure he handled the second leg on the 200 medley relay team which won the opening event of the meet in a time of 1:54.97. Keefe was joined on that relay team by sophomore Aidan McConkey (Olympia HS, Windermere, Fla.), freshman Isaiah Valentine (Walnut Hills HS, Cincinnati, Ohio) and junior Jeremy Wolf (Woodstock HS, Woodstock, Ill.).
 
McConkey won the 200 backstroke (2:06.37) and took third in the 200 freestyle (1:53.16). Valentine took the 200 butterfly in 2:05.07 and swam leadoff on the winning 200 freestyle relay which closed out the meet with a time of 1:31.57. Wolf won the 200 freestyle in 1:49.53 and joined Valentine and on the 200 freestyle relay along with senior Souhail Rhafiri (Rabat, Morocco) and Jack Blumenfeld (Hersey HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.). Blumenfeld won the 100 freestyle in :52.11 and was second in the 200 freestyle (1:49.90) while Rhafiri placed second in the 50 freestyle in :23.81 and second in the 200 breaststroke (2:31.70).
 
Senior Connor Bullard (Auburn HS, Loves Park, Ill.) led a one-two-three Viking sweep in the 1000 freestyle with a winning time of 11:07.91. Junior Charles Young (St. Charles East HS, St. Charles, Ill.) was second (2:09.56) and junior Jason Palmer (Vernon Hills HS, Libertyville, Ill.) took third (12:42.76). Young was also second in the 200 backstroke and senior Greg Roskowic (Rockford East HS, Rockford, Ill.) was third (2:11.81).
 
Senior Adam Smith (Palatine HS, Palatine, Ill.) won the 50 freestyle in :22.82 and freshman Matthew Felber (Marmion Academy, North Aurora, Ill.) took the 500 freestyle (5:02.87). Felber was also second in the 200 individual medley in 2:05.93.
 
Junior Jacob Huffer (Peninsula HS, Gig Harbor, Wash.) placed third in the 50 freestyle (:24.69). Freshman Evan Juarez (Moline HS, Moline, Ill.) took third in the 200 individual medley (2:14.22) and senior Zach Ogden (United Township HS, East Moline, Ill.) was third in the 100 freestyle (:55.46).
 
The Vikings are back in action again on Friday, November 22 with a dual meet against Monmouth in Monmouth, Illinois at 6:00 p.m.
