WHEATON, Ill. – Coach Jon Miedema's Augustana women completed their third straight undefeated CCIW regular season Saturday with a 5-4 win over Wheaton at the Wheaton Sport Center. The Vikings improved to 9-0 overall and 8-0 in the league, extending their conference winning streak to 24 dual meets in a row. The Thunder suffered their first loss in 11 dual meets this year and finished 7-1 in the CCIW.

Augustana got a win from its first doubles outfit, but narrow losses at two and three left the Vikings trailing 2-1 going to singles.

Junior Annie Timm (Prairie Ridge HS, Crystal Lake, Ill.) and senior Zeana Badawi (Hinsdale Central HS, Burr Ridge, Ill.) defeated Claire Browning and Abygale Ahn 8-4 at number one doubles. At number three, junior Kalli Majewski (Mundelein HS, Mundelein, Ill.) and senior Leraaen Abbott (Belvidere North HS, Belvidere, Ill.) fell 8-6 to Emme Lindquist and Bethany Hoogerheide. Miedema's second unit of freshmen Lily Schoeck (Alleman HS, Rock Island, Ill.) and Lauren Oda (Elk Grove HS, Elk Grove Village, Ill.) dropped an 8-7 decision to Nicole Freeman and Claire Dibble.

Timm's 6-2, 6-1 win over Browning at first singles pulled Augustana into a 2-2 tie and the Vikings won the next three singles matches completed to clinch the victory.

Schoeck downed Freeman 6-3, 6-1 at number four. Freshman Michaela Magee (Olathe East HS, Overland Park, Kan.) defeated Dibble 7-5, 6-3 at number three and Badawi captured the clincher 7-6, 2-6, 6-0 over Lindquist at number two.

Hoogerheide was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Majewski at sixth singles and Ahn bested Oda 6-4, 7-6 at number five.

The Vikings will look to claim their second straight conference championship—and their fourth in five years—when they compete at the CCIW Championships on October 17-19 in Hanover Park, Illinois.
