Vikings roll past Elmhurst 9-0; face Wheaton today in key CCIW matchup

Vikings rolled past Elmhurst 9-0 to move to 8-0 overall and 7-0 in the CCIW.

ELMHURST, Ill. – Augustana left no doubt on Friday, October 11 in a 9-0 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin women's tennis victory over Elmhurst at Courts Plus in Elmhurst, Illinois. The Vikings of head coach Jon Miedema moved to 8-0 overall and 7-0 in the CCIW just in front of a showdown at Wheaton on Saturday, October 12.
 
That match with the Thunder has been pushed back to 4:00 p.m. at the Wheaton Sports Center because of weather-related issues in the Wheaton area.
 
Augustana won for the 23rd consecutive time in league play on Friday and it was a dominant performance throughout the lineup.
 
Senior Zeana Badawi (Hinsdale Central HS, Burr Ridge, Ill.) and junior Annie Timm (Prairie Ridge HS, Crystal Lake, Ill.) defeated Ysabel Gonzaga and Dacey Maglaque 8-1 at number one doubles. The freshman duo of Lily Schoeck (Alleman Catholic HS, Rock Island, Ill.) and Lauren Oda (Elk Grove HS, Elk Grove Village, Ill.) beat Silvia Barak and Nina Pasquini 8-4 at number two. Juniors Kalli Majewski (Mundelein HS, Mundelein, Ill.) and Leraaen Abbott (Belvidere North HS, Belvidere, Ill.) took care of Lindsey McAuliffe and Bailey Ekstrand 8-2 at number three.
 
Four of the Vikings six singles victories were by perfect 6-0; 6-0 margins. Timm beat Gonzaga at number one, Badawi was over Pasquini at number two, freshman Michaela Magee (Olathe East HS, Overland Park, Ill.) triumphed over Maglaque at number three and Oda defeated Barak at number six; all by that same score.
 
Magee, Oda and Timm all notched their 10th singles victories of the season in the win over Elmhurst. Magee is 10-4, Oda 10-1 and Timm 10-3. Majewski is perfect in singles play so far with a 7-0 record.
 
Schoeck beat McAuliffe 6-0; 6-4 at number four and Majewski's margin over Bering at number six was 6-0; 6-1.
