Augustana junior Alexis Jones earned CCIW Player of the Week honors
for her performances in wins over Elmhurst and North Park.
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – A perfect shooting night at Elmhurst on Wednesday and a 13-rebound effort at North Park on Saturday have earned Augustana junior
Alexis Jones (Marist HS, Chicago, Ill.) CCIW Player of the Week honors. She has been a key figure in the Vikings' 10-5 start, which includes a 4-2 mark in conference play.
On Wednesday, January 2 at Elmhurst, Jones converted all 10 of her attempts from the field, including two from three-point range, and all four of her free throws for 26 points—two shy of her season and career high. She also had eight rebounds and four assists in 32 minutes, as the Vikings posted a key 70-64 league win over the Bluejays.
At North Park on Saturday, January 5, Jones grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds to go along with nine points, three assists and two steals in a 77-65 Augustana victory.
For the week, Jones averaged 17.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists and shot .684 from the field (4-for-4 from beyond the arc) and .833 from the foul line.
For the season, the 5' 7" guard is the Vikings' second-leading scorer at 15.6 points per game and leads the team in field goal percentage (.551), rebounding (8.0 rpg) and steals (41). She's also third on the team with 34 assists.
Including all games, Jones leads the CCIW in rebounding and steals and ranks third in field goal percentage and sixth in scoring. In six league contests, she ranks first in rebounding (9.7 rpg), third in scoring (17.7 ppg), fourth in field goal percentage (.556) and steals (2.00 spg), fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.29), eighth in minutes played (31.17 mpg), 10th in assists (3.0 apg) and 11th in three-point percentage (.462).
Alexis is the daughter of Lisa and Kevin Jones of Chicago and is majoring in political science and French at Augustana.
