Freshman Lauren Raike won the 100 breaststroke and 100 butterfly
Saturday in Augustana's 195-97 dual-meet loss at Carthage.
KENOSHA, Wis. – Freshman
Lauren Raike (Alamo Heights HS, San Antonio, Texas) won two events Saturday and classmates
Aviana Zahara (Pleasant Valley HS, Moline, Ill.) and
Madelynn Marunde (Belvidere North HS, Belvidere, Ill.) one each, but Augustana fell 195-97 to Carthage in a dual meet at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center. Coach
Dan Lloyd's Vikings suffered their first dual-meet setback in five outings this season.
Raike claimed the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.75 and swam a 1:01.04 to win the 100 butterfly. Zahara's victory came in the 50 backstroke with a time of :27.63 and Marunde took the 200 individual medley in 2:17.41.
Freshman
Alicia Garcia's (Seminole HS, Lake Mary, Fla.) 2:03.30 was good for second in the 200 freestyle and junior
Gabrielle Ainsworth (Hononegah HS, South Beloit, Ill.) snared a second-place finish as well with a :58.24 in the 100 freestyle. In the 500 freestyle, senior
Mia Polinski (Evanston HS, Evanston, Ill.) finished second in a time of 5:34.02 and junior
Grace O'Shea (Sacred Heart Griffin HS, Springfield, Ill.) was third in 5:57.63.
Freshman
Isabelle Seten (Centennial HS, Champaign, Ill.) swam a :25.27 to finish third in the 50 freestyle.
In the diving events, seniors
Olivia Lutz (St. Charles East HS, St. Charles, Ill.) and
Ashley Comeau (Romeoville HS, Romeoville, Ill.) finished second and third, respectively, at both one and three meters. At one meter, Lutz posted a score of 143.10 and Comeau a 134.70. Their respective marks at three meters were 126.35 and 106.95.
Next up for Augustana is the Grinnell Invitational on Friday and Saturday, January 18-19 in Grinnell, Iowa.
