ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augustana senior Samuel Totten (University HS, Normal, Ill.) finished off an outstanding career today by being named a Google Cloud Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Totten was named to the NCAA Division III At-Large third team. He becomes Augustana's 173rd Academic All-American—seventh-most of any school in the nation—and is the first Viking men's tennis player to earn the honor since Jon Michel in 1997.

Totten, who graduated on May 20, compiled a 3.97 grade point average while majoring in engineering physics and applied math. He is the son of Joe and Chris Totten of Normal, Illinois.

As a senior, Totten helped lead Coach Jon Miedema's Vikings to the program's first CCIW championship since 1985 and its first NCAA Division III Tournament appearance ever. With an 18-10 record, he ranked second on the team in singles victories and led Augustana in doubles wins with a 21-13 mark.

A four-time All-CCIW selection—including first team honors each of the last three years—Totten finished his career sixth all-time in singles wins at Augustana with a record of 61-40 and third in doubles victories with a 77-41 ledger. His combined record of 138-81 places him third in school history for total wins. He also wrapped up his career as half of the Vikings' winningest doubles combo ever after teaming with classmate Eric Pohl (Fremd HS, Palatine, Ill.) for a 69-36 mark.

The men's At-Large category in the Academic All-America program includes the sports of tennis, swimming & diving, ice hockey, lacrosse, wrestling, volleyball and golf.
